Terms of Use

Last updated: 3 August 2026

These terms govern your use of the Clarity iOS application and website. By using Clarity you agree to them.

What Clarity is — and isn't

Clarity provides calorie estimates, nutritional information and food-quality scores computed from photos you take and from published ingredient-label data. Clarity is not medical advice. It is a general-wellness tool. AI-generated estimates of portions, calories and macros are approximations and can be wrong; label data may be incomplete or out of date. Always confirm with the physical product label, and consult a qualified health professional before making decisions about diet, weight, allergies or medical conditions. Never rely on Clarity for allergen safety.

Subscriptions and billing

Your account and data

You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You can export your data (CSV) and permanently delete your account and synced data at any time in Settings. Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

Don't misuse the service: no reverse engineering, scraping, reselling of our data or AI outputs, probing our infrastructure, or using Clarity in violation of law. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or attempt to circumvent purchase requirements.

Content and attribution

Product label data in our catalogue includes content from Open Food Facts, available under the Open Database License (ODbL). Retailer product imagery is used with permission. Quality scores are our own editorial computation from published label data — they describe products, not brands, and are provided in good faith.

Intellectual property

Clarity, its logo, design, and software are our property. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law (including the Australian Consumer Law, whose consumer guarantees are not excluded), Clarity is provided "as is", and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app, including decisions made in reliance on estimates or scores. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the previous 12 months.

Changes and termination

We may update features and these terms; material changes will be notified in the app. You can stop using Clarity at any time; deleting your account ends the agreement.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
